Lahla Lady Drake - Faery Ink birthday card

Image
Lahla Lady Drake  was the ideal image to use for my daughter's birthday card. My daughter happens to adore dragons!!!  And I think this is the 3rd year that I make her a card using an image from Faery ink :)  Just have to say that Amanda draws the best dragons and ladies to go with them!!! Without further ado let's look at this card. Because I've been doing so many mixed media pieces it was strange to do a card.  But I'm very happy to report that my daughter loved it! I used papers from Hey girl by Basic Grey.  The flower is from Prima (it's been forever since I used one of those!!!).  I added some washi tape for the border at the bottom and the paper under the sentiment was cut using a Quick cutz die.  The image was of course colored with my copics. Hope you have a fabulous Sunday everyone. Hugs

Queen Collector - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  It's the 30th of July and the halfway point of my vacation :( It's ok... still a week to go.  I'm preparing this post in advance but I know that this is what I will be feeling lol I'm here today to share with you an inspiration for Karleigh Sue digis .  The image that I'm using is the Queen Collector . I have to admit that I'm totally OBSESSED with colloring books as well as with coloring pencils.  So this image was the perfect for me!!! The image was colored with my copics as well as some zig pen for the crown.  The image was fussy cut afterwards.  I used my coloring pencils and my gel pens for the coloring book page. I really ADORE using my coloring book as a background.  Hoping that at the end my coloring book will be a nice journal. I found a quote about a collector online and wrote it in the middle.  I love how it personalized this even more and it was very appropriate :) Have a fab day and hope you are creative!!! Hugs

Ponytails and shotgun shells - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  It's time for a brand new release from  Karleigh Sue  and I'm using the wonderful image Ponytails and shotgun shells. I'm not a hunter, but I really ADORE the fact that the digis in this release are not the typical woman position digis!!!  We can do so much and this shows it :) Here is my make.  I made a double layout in my dylusions journal. I used my archival inks leaf green, fern green and potting soil to make the background and then I made background trees with a dylusion stamp from Dyan Reaveley.    I added some trees made out of scrap papers with my dies from Dienamites  - birch trees and bamboo stick.  I wrote the sentiment with alphabet letters that I had in my stash.  The digi was colored with my copics and I fussy cut her out. I'm entering this in the following challenges: Art by miran challenge  - Anything goes Crafting-with-friends  - anything goes Cut it up challenges  - anything goes Simply papercrafts for all occassions  - Anything

American Shorthair - The east wind

Image
Hello!  It's Tuesday and it's time for a brand new release over at the East wind  and this one is just PURR-FECT for all those cat lovers out there.  I just HAD to play with him. I wanted to just make a little something not too long but just fun for me :)  And I used an index card that I had already colored while wipping off paint from other project.  It was the perfect base for this. He was colored with my copics and then fussy cut.  The sentiment is coming from a book that I destroyed... well kept lots of sentiments and images from it (and it was from the dollar store).  I finished off the index card by putting the little dots all around with a sharpie pen and doing the edge of the card as well this way. I'm entering this little index card in the following challenges: Crafting from the heart challenge blog  - Anything goes Craft your passion challenges   - Anything goes Stampsfun-creativity  - Anything goes That's it for me for today!  Hope you have a

A bit of mixed media and prayer requests

Image
Good evening everyone.  I hadn't planned on making a post tonight or anything crafty related actually but I really needed to keep my mind occupied.  One of my colleague left work tonight by ambulance.  She was having chest pains and very low blood pressure.  I would ask for those of you that do pray to keep her in your prayers. The best thing to do was to do some mixed media.  I had just received today 3 stencils from Tim Holtz that I didn't have.  I had played with one while on my mini retreat with Erin and really really really wanted it! I have made a little video of my process here And here are the 4 little cards that I made.  They measure 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  I used lots of paints and of course collage papers, magazine cut outs and my new stencils. I really like how they are all different but somehow related at the same time since the colors are all the sames in different amounts.  The base for those is a game.  I just thought it was the perfect size to play

Smallest journal

Image
Hey everyone!  Hope you had a great day today.  If you celebrated the 4th of July that you got to spend time doing what you wanted and just chilled. I'm here to share with you my latest endeavor.  I had been wanting to create a journal in a little tin box for awhile but the time never seemed to arrise.  But now I finally got the chance to do it having found a great little tin at a garage sale. I'm doing a flip through of it here And here is the picture of it.  I didn't alter the tin because I thought it wasn't required it was cute anough as it was.  And who knows it might be an antique one day lol I'm entering this tiny little journal in the following challenges: Artistic inspirations challenges  - Anything goes Crafting from the heart challenge  - Anything goes Craft your passion challenges  - anything goes The papernest dolls challenge  - anything goes That's it for tonight.  Hope you liked it.  If you watch my video and like it don't fo

Primpin up - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  Happy Indepence Day to all our American friends!  I had my holiday on Friday being from Canada so today it's back to work I go.  I hope that you will get to enjoy this day with family or doing some crafting :) I'm here for my inspiration post of the month over at Karleigh Sue and this time I played with my "En Masse" journal.  This is a little junk journal that I made where I put down multiples of an image of something that I liked or that inspired me to collect it and glue it down.  There's something about glueing paper down that brings back the kid in us!!! Anyway, I can't do a simple glueing down... I seem to need to personalize it a bit and that's where the fabulous digis from Karleigh Sue came in.  The page that I'm sharing today is with a collection of lipstick and of course there was a PERFECT digi to go with this.  I also found an awesome sentiment while doing a google search and I thought it totally completed the pages. The digi

July Oddball Facebook challenge

Image
WOW where does the time go?!?  Anyway it's the 1st of July and I just realized that all the post that I'm sharing today are from Canadian artists!!!  How cool is that?  So if you missed the other ones check it out. This post is about Oddball design.  There's a wonderful FB challenge and you can do WHATEVER you want so long as you use an Oddball image.  This time I chose to make something with a digi that I colored while away with my friend Erin (which I miss a LOT right now!!!).  And I used an index card that had left over paint as a background :)  super fast and easy and most of all FUN. The image that I used is  Image 297 Here is the make: I had a big stamp that I purchased from a liquidation at my local craft store and I finally used the words from it here!!!  The image was colored with both copics (the fairy)  and colored pencils (all the books).   I also added some gelli roll pen on the wings.  I fussy cut her out.  And I used my Faber castell pen to edge it

Scribbles Design challenge - Midway point - Sip and Savour

Image
Hey everyone! Let me start by wishing all my fellow Canadian friends a very happy Canada day!!! Hope you get to enjoy your day doing stuff you adore. In my case I'm sure hoping that there will be a little wine involved :) And that brings me to this post. There's a challenge going on at Scribbles design challenge . And this time it's about sip and Savour. That automatically makes me think of a nice glass of wine. So I decided to use the wonderful image a-07-wine-500 to create a little decoration for my en masse journal where I collected some wine labels!  Yup I'm going nuts about doing all sorts of paper collection.  But in this case it can be useful to remember the wines that we liked! The very intricate image was colored with my coloring pencils.  I attached a big paper clip to the back with some small duck tape.  And VOILÃ embellishment made :) That's it for me for today.  Hope you have a wonderful day. Stay creative Hug

Tear it up! - The East wind type

Image
Happy Canada day!!!!! :)  YUP it's vacation time around my place and I'm hoping for a gorgeous day that I can be spending at my little outdoor market buying fresh vegetables! And this also means a new challenge over at  The East Wind  and it's about tearing paper up!!!!  Of course, if you are a subscriber to the newsletter (all free) you will have gotten a wonderful freebie image and this is the image that I played with! I decided to work in my homemade journal for this time. The background was made using some brushos and some Color burst from Ken Oliver. Super easy and fun and of course totally unpredictable that is the most fun of it all!!!!  The sentiment is from Dylusions and I used some teared up papers that I received in one of my swaps to do this.  The image was colored with my copics and then fussy cut. I hope that you will like this inspiration and that you will be coming over to play in our new challenge!  Most of all do REGISTER for the freebie
