The east Wind challenge - Paper piecing

Image
Well yesterday I mentioned how summer is just flying by and that Christmas is just around the corner... well today I'm sharing with you a CHRISTMAS card.  YUP I said the word Christmas. The new challenge for The east wind is paper piecing and since I'm soooooo behind making my Christmas card that I really really had to get going.  This challenge was just perfect for it and I used the super fun image  Baby it's cold outside . I made a little video of my process here because I thought that it might be interesting for you guys to see. And here is my card for you I really love how it turned out.  I used a lot of dies in this one which are happy because they have been sitting in my stash for awhile...  so I used Elizabeth craft dies snowflake, Label 14, Picot edge as well as large circle from Spellbinder.  I put a little bow and finished this off with some bling from recollection.  The sentiment and image were edged with my victorian velvet distress ink. Oddball August FB challenge midway

Image
Hello everyone!  It's already midway in the month of August.  Boy oh boy where does the time go?!? 1st thing we know it will be Christmas again.... For now however I still have my last vacation on my mind.  I shared with you all a video on my youtube channel what I was planning for my vacation.  And unlike the previous years, I ran out of pages in my smash book!  So I had to find another book to be able to record the last days of our vacation. I was lucky I found a book that was really awesome at Staples but the cover was really BLAH... I had to do something to personalize this!  And good thing for me I had a great image from Oddball that was perfect for it.  It's the awesome  image 312 . I colored this image with my coloring pencils this time around unlike most images that I color with my copics.  I actually colored this image while on vacation!  I really love love love how this turned out!!! I'm entering this little journal cover in the following challenges

Oddball Design FB challenge - August

Image
Hello!  It's time for a new challenge on the FB group of Oddball Design .  And for this I decided to use the wonderful image 296 which you can find here . The background for this journaling that was done in a modified book was done with brushos.  I love that you can't really know in advance how this is going to turn out!  I used a stamp border to do the edge.  The image was colored with my copics and I used some prima chalk ink around the sentiment. If you don't have any images from Oddball you should go and check out the great Etsy store and you can use this code DTVICKY10 to get a 10% discount on your purchases. Hope you enjoy your day and your stay creative!!! Hugs

How does your garden grow - Midway point - Scribbles challenge

Image
This is a sad post!!!  It's my last post (at least for now) on the Scribbles Design Team .  I have had so much fun in that team.  Such wonderful ladies in it and of course Sandy the wonderful artist!!! For this last post which is the midway point of the challenge How does your garden grow, I decided to use the wonderful   A68 Smile sparkle and shine .  I think it really represents this team and the challenge :) This image was made into a postcard.  I'm sure that it will brighten someone's day.  I used my coloring pencils for this as well as my gel pens. I hope you are staying creative and please come back since there will be one more post coming up!!! Hugs

The east Wind - Stars and planet

Image
Hello!  It's already time for a new challenge over at  The East Wind  and it's about stars and planet. The freebie that you get if you are registered for the newsletter is totally YUMMY!!!!  You will adore it! I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do here.   But in the end the inspiration just popped right on over :)  I found a quote online that I thought was going to be perfect for this. Here's my journaling done in my dylusion journal. the quote was done using my brother label maker.  I added a bunch of gold and silver sequin stars.  The background was done using my black pan pastel. Here's a closer look at the image colored with my copics in light blues.  The hair looks white in the picture :( but it's a light blue! I hope you will come and join us in the challenge this time around.  And if you are not registered for the newsletter what is stopping you?!? Have a fabulous day everyone!!! Hugs

Lahla Lady Drake - Faery Ink birthday card

Image
Lahla Lady Drake  was the ideal image to use for my daughter's birthday card. My daughter happens to adore dragons!!!  And I think this is the 3rd year that I make her a card using an image from Faery ink :)  Just have to say that Amanda draws the best dragons and ladies to go with them!!! Without further ado let's look at this card. Because I've been doing so many mixed media pieces it was strange to do a card.  But I'm very happy to report that my daughter loved it! I used papers from Hey girl by Basic Grey.  The flower is from Prima (it's been forever since I used one of those!!!).  I added some washi tape for the border at the bottom and the paper under the sentiment was cut using a Quick cutz die.  The image was of course colored with my copics. Hope you have a fabulous Sunday everyone. Hugs

Queen Collector - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  It's the 30th of July and the halfway point of my vacation :( It's ok... still a week to go.  I'm preparing this post in advance but I know that this is what I will be feeling lol I'm here today to share with you an inspiration for Karleigh Sue digis .  The image that I'm using is the Queen Collector . I have to admit that I'm totally OBSESSED with colloring books as well as with coloring pencils.  So this image was the perfect for me!!! The image was colored with my copics as well as some zig pen for the crown.  The image was fussy cut afterwards.  I used my coloring pencils and my gel pens for the coloring book page. I really ADORE using my coloring book as a background.  Hoping that at the end my coloring book will be a nice journal. I found a quote about a collector online and wrote it in the middle.  I love how it personalized this even more and it was very appropriate :) Have a fab day and hope you are creative!!! Hugs

Ponytails and shotgun shells - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  It's time for a brand new release from  Karleigh Sue  and I'm using the wonderful image Ponytails and shotgun shells. I'm not a hunter, but I really ADORE the fact that the digis in this release are not the typical woman position digis!!!  We can do so much and this shows it :) Here is my make.  I made a double layout in my dylusions journal. I used my archival inks leaf green, fern green and potting soil to make the background and then I made background trees with a dylusion stamp from Dyan Reaveley.    I added some trees made out of scrap papers with my dies from Dienamites  - birch trees and bamboo stick.  I wrote the sentiment with alphabet letters that I had in my stash.  The digi was colored with my copics and I fussy cut her out. I'm entering this in the following challenges: Art by miran challenge  - Anything goes Crafting-with-friends  - anything goes Cut it up challenges  - anything goes Simply papercrafts for all occassions  - Anything

I'm so very tired. Anyway you are not here to hear that right?!? I'm sharing with you a journaling out of the box that I did for the Oddball FB challenge of July .  You can find the image that I used  here . American Shorthair - The east wind

Image
Hello!  It's Tuesday and it's time for a brand new release over at the East wind  and this one is just PURR-FECT for all those cat lovers out there.  I just HAD to play with him. I wanted to just make a little something not too long but just fun for me :)  And I used an index card that I had already colored while wipping off paint from other project.  It was the perfect base for this. He was colored with my copics and then fussy cut.  The sentiment is coming from a book that I destroyed... well kept lots of sentiments and images from it (and it was from the dollar store).  I finished off the index card by putting the little dots all around with a sharpie pen and doing the edge of the card as well this way. I'm entering this little index card in the following challenges: Crafting from the heart challenge blog  - Anything goes Craft your passion challenges   - Anything goes Stampsfun-creativity  - Anything goes That's it for me for today!  Hope you have a

A bit of mixed media and prayer requests

Image
Good evening everyone.  I hadn't planned on making a post tonight or anything crafty related actually but I really needed to keep my mind occupied.  One of my colleague left work tonight by ambulance.  She was having chest pains and very low blood pressure.  I would ask for those of you that do pray to keep her in your prayers. The best thing to do was to do some mixed media.  I had just received today 3 stencils from Tim Holtz that I didn't have.  I had played with one while on my mini retreat with Erin and really really really wanted it! I have made a little video of my process here And here are the 4 little cards that I made.  They measure 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  I used lots of paints and of course collage papers, magazine cut outs and my new stencils. I really like how they are all different but somehow related at the same time since the colors are all the sames in different amounts.  The base for those is a game.  I just thought it was the perfect size to play

Smallest journal

Image
Hey everyone!  Hope you had a great day today.  If you celebrated the 4th of July that you got to spend time doing what you wanted and just chilled. I'm here to share with you my latest endeavor.  I had been wanting to create a journal in a little tin box for awhile but the time never seemed to arrise.  But now I finally got the chance to do it having found a great little tin at a garage sale. I'm doing a flip through of it here And here is the picture of it.  I didn't alter the tin because I thought it wasn't required it was cute anough as it was.  And who knows it might be an antique one day lol I'm entering this tiny little journal in the following challenges: Artistic inspirations challenges  - Anything goes Crafting from the heart challenge  - Anything goes Craft your passion challenges  - anything goes The papernest dolls challenge  - anything goes That's it for tonight.  Hope you liked it.  If you watch my video and like it don't fo

Primpin up - Karleigh Sue

Image
Hello!  Happy Indepence Day to all our American friends!  I had my holiday on Friday being from Canada so today it's back to work I go.  I hope that you will get to enjoy this day with family or doing some crafting :) I'm here for my inspiration post of the month over at Karleigh Sue and this time I played with my "En Masse" journal.  This is a little junk journal that I made where I put down multiples of an image of something that I liked or that inspired me to collect it and glue it down.  There's something about glueing paper down that brings back the kid in us!!! Anyway, I can't do a simple glueing down... I seem to need to personalize it a bit and that's where the fabulous digis from Karleigh Sue came in.  The page that I'm sharing today is with a collection of lipstick and of course there was a PERFECT digi to go with this.  I also found an awesome sentiment while doing a google search and I thought it totally completed the pages. The digi

July Oddball Facebook challenge

Image
WOW where does the time go?!?  Anyway it's the 1st of July and I just realized that all the post that I'm sharing today are from Canadian artists!!!  How cool is that?  So if you missed the other ones check it out. This post is about Oddball design.  There's a wonderful FB challenge and you can do WHATEVER you want so long as you use an Oddball image.  This time I chose to make something with a digi that I colored while away with my friend Erin (which I miss a LOT right now!!!).  And I used an index card that had left over paint as a background :)  super fast and easy and most of all FUN. The image that I used is  Image 297 Here is the make: I had a big stamp that I purchased from a liquidation at my local craft store and I finally used the words from it here!!!  The image was colored with both copics (the fairy)  and colored pencils (all the books).   I also added some gelli roll pen on the wings.  I fussy cut her out.  And I used my Faber castell pen to edge it

Scribbles Design challenge - Midway point - Sip and Savour

Image
Hey everyone! Let me start by wishing all my fellow Canadian friends a very happy Canada day!!! Hope you get to enjoy your day doing stuff you adore. In my case I'm sure hoping that there will be a little wine involved :) And that brings me to this post. There's a challenge going on at Scribbles design challenge . And this time it's about sip and Savour. That automatically makes me think of a nice glass of wine. So I decided to use the wonderful image a-07-wine-500 to create a little decoration for my en masse journal where I collected some wine labels!  Yup I'm going nuts about doing all sorts of paper collection.  But in this case it can be useful to remember the wines that we liked! The very intricate image was colored with my coloring pencils.  I attached a big paper clip to the back with some small duck tape.  And VOILÃ embellishment made :) That's it for me for today.  Hope you have a wonderful day. Stay creative Hug

Tear it up! - The East wind type

Image
Happy Canada day!!!!! :)  YUP it's vacation time around my place and I'm hoping for a gorgeous day that I can be spending at my little outdoor market buying fresh vegetables! And this also means a new challenge over at  The East Wind  and it's about tearing paper up!!!!  Of course, if you are a subscriber to the newsletter (all free) you will have gotten a wonderful freebie image and this is the image that I played with! I decided to work in my homemade journal for this time. The background was made using some brushos and some Color burst from Ken Oliver. Super easy and fun and of course totally unpredictable that is the most fun of it all!!!!  The sentiment is from Dylusions and I used some teared up papers that I received in one of my swaps to do this.  The image was colored with my copics and then fussy cut. I hope that you will like this inspiration and that you will be coming over to play in our new challenge!  Most of all do REGISTER for the freebie

Jessica Jones - Karleigh Sue

Image
There was a fabulous new release this month over at  Karleigh Sue .  And today I get to share with you another one of them :) I chose to play with the wonderful  Jessica Jones .  I did this journaling page while I was away for a weekend with my friend Erin.  I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do.. but I had been playing with magazine cut out and saw this great page that I thought would work fabulously with her. The bottom part of the page is done with a brown paper bag that the wine purchased came in.  The sentiment was found online and then I stamped it out individually to make it.  I lined the paper with some newspaper :)  Yup recycling at it's best.  The wonderful image was colored with my copics.  I even made her a plaid shirt!  I was very proud of that.  And then I fussy cut her out. I will be entering this in the following challenges: ccee stampers  - Mixed media Aud sentiments challenge blog  - Funny Sentiment - I think this one is pretty funny Craft

Say What?!? - RSD

Image
Hello and happy Monday to you all!  I'm here to share with you my very last make as an EDT design member of Rick St-Dennis.  I have had such a great time for the past year 1/2 and learned so much from Rick as well as from all the wonderful DT. For this last make I was really nervous because I wanted to do a really good job.  The image that I'm playing with really fits me I think lol minus the weird clothes... It's the great  Say what?!?  and I used her as the very 1st page of my new dylusion journal.  I have received this journal a full year ago from the wonderful Paola Jofre.  And because it's a dylusion journal I was having issues actually playing with it.  I know it's silly but that's what it is.  I tend to have trouble using what I totally adore... something to work on. Anyway, I figured this post for RSD would be the perfect opportunity to finally use it! I printed my image really large and colored her with all kinds of different colors that I would

Good Sunday to all of you

Image
Wow it's so very quiet on my blog isn't it... not blogging as much as I used too.  Doing more videos and trying to do new mixed media things. Somehow I've started to associate my blog with my dt work... but I have to start blogging back just for the fun of it the way that I used to before!  So I figured on this beautiful Sunday morning, I would do just that. 1st of all Happy Father's day to all the great fathers out there.  I'm blessed for having the best of them as my father and having found the best one for my kids :)  How can 1 girl be so lucky?  I don't know but I feel blessed for this. What have I been up to?  Well last weekend I went crafting with my friend Erin (met through blogging!!!  that's why I have to bring back my blog to life).  We met 1/2 between our two places in Ogdensburg.  We had found a little family motel where we got a HUGE room and were able to craft to our little hearts desire.  I have to admit being super teary eyed when it ca

Lumberlife - Karleigh Sue style

Image
Hello everyone!  There's a brand new release over at  Karleigh Sue  and I decided ot play with the great Lumberlife as my 1st post on this great release! I had lots of fun making this while over at my weekend away with my friend Erin.   BTW this is a page in the middle of my journal but I'm opening it totally so that I can keep this up and standing and not show the other page :)  Just thought I would tell you all because I have been getting a lot of comments on how my book cover is awesome for other journaling pages that I have shared... and I definitely do no have that many journals lol Anyway back to my post.  This weekend I was all about using my cut out magazines.  I've been accumulating them and I don't know but this weekend was about doing collage!  And I have to admit to LOVING doing this. So the background are magazine pages.  I used paper pieces of the bag that the wine was put in (you can't have a crafty weekend without wine!!!).  And I handwrote th

Sip and Savor - Scribbles Design Challenge

Image
It's time already for a new challenge over at Scribbles designs challenge . This month it's about drinks whatever that might mean for you! For me with the summer coming it reminds me of a nice beer on a terrasse :) My own or a restaurant! I totally love experimenting new beers. And very often the beers of the small local breweries have totally awesome labels. I started collecting those so that I might remember them. I thought my 2nd "En masse" journal would be perfect for this. And I just HAD the perfect quote from Scribbles design for this it's Five o'clock quote . I didn't want to totally cover the fabulous label so I put the digi, that was colored with pan pastels, on a bit of washi tape.  So this is the closed (well partly closed look). And here is the open look I hope this has inspired you :)  If you want to see the start of  "En masse" journal you should check out Shannon Green's video here: And there's a FB

Musical inspiration - RSD style

Image
Hello!  I'm here with a post that made me so very happy!!!  I just ADORE the sound of music and when I saw that this month's DT challenge over at RSD FB group  was about us creating something to do with music. To get to the FB group just click on the image above The image that I used is the fabulous  Sister Jubilata . You can see my video here: And here is the actual make with the request on the left hand side and the page on the right. And here is the page in close up A bunch of scrap piece of papers as well as some washi tape. The nun was colored with my copics.  My happiest found was the tire tread that I used for the stones at the step of the nun. I had lots of fun with this.  I hope that you will be inspired as well. Have a great Wednesday!  There's still a post to come today. Hugs

I used a sentiment and some die cuts that were given to me in a swap.  I made the tree by drawing it with a stabilo pencil and then some paints. Be a Unicorn - Karleigh Sue Digis

Image
Hello!  I'm here for my inspiration post of the month and I had fun journaling again. And I figured I would give you ideas at the same time on how to use up your left over papers, you know those scraps that we don't know what to do with?!? Here is the make using the wonderful image  Be a Unicorn Nude .  Well do you really think a unicorn would dress up?!?  It's already fabulous isn't it?!? The papers are all strips and they are double side papers so I was able to really match them up for the fun of it.  I used some black water color on the side of them when they were in the book to make it more uniform. The image was colored with my copics and I fussy cut her out and layered her on some black paper.  I used a white gell pen on the black left over papers to write out the sentiment. I'm entering this in the following challenges: Inspiration destination challenge blog  - Anything goes Rubys rainbow  - Anything but a card The papershelter  - I wrote a big s

Lahla Mermaid Shell - Faery Ink

Image
Lahla Mermaid shell  was perfect to start a new project of mine which is Pick a stick monthly challenge There's a facebook group that gives some inspiration for journaling and I really wanted to play along since I learned of them!  The good news is that the 1st prompt for January (yup I'm behind) required a quote from a song!  Well the fabulous mermaid totally made me think of Ariel!  And I new right away the song that I wanted to use on this. I've been having lots of fun as well using some unexpected journals for my art and for this it's a magazine that I could just not throw away!  So it's the base of this make.  If you want to see the making of this you can go and check out the video here . And here is the finished look! To make this I used some scrapbook papers, lots of paints, some stencils as well as texture paste.  The image was colored with my copics and I put lots of Jelly roll pen on her to make her all shiny. I hope you will be checking out this

More Mixed media Challenge - Purple

Image
Hello and happy Sunday!!!  It's time for a new challenge over at  More mixed media challenge  and this time it's purple. But the rules have changed... so you can either do the option which is purple or just do mixed media :) For mine it was the perfect opportunity to do something for an upcoming junk mail swap.... yup a swap about transforming junk mail!!!!  I used a great image from Bloobel stamps that I purchased (just fell in love with that image!). I have a video to share the making of this:  And here is my make, I love purple so that wasn't hard at all!!! Oddball June FB challenge

Image
Ouf... Last post of the day :)  This last one is for the new Oddball Design FB challenge !!! And you should totally enter since it's anything goes always with Oddball images.  If you don't have an image go right on over the store and use the code DTVICKY10 to get a 10% off your purchases! And yes I have another postcard to share with you.  However for this one I have done a video that you will be able to see here: The entire reason for this postcard was to share with a friend what I had made with a puzzle piece from a puzzle she gave me.  However if you didn't watch the video... I can tell you I was really surprised by the size of the puzzle piece.  I thought it would be small ones.  Which obviously you can see is not the case.  But I was able to make something with it so I was really happy that it worked in the end. The image was colored with my copics.  I used my faber castell pen on the stenciled pieces and of course lots of paint.  The stencil used for the

Scribble Design Challenge - Tools of the trade midway

Image
I'm totally OBSESSED with making postcards!  People like to get them and they are a great way to recycle all the cereal boxes that my kids go through!!! So for the midway point of Scribbles Challenge about tools I figured this would be a great opportunity to make a little postcard for my dad. For this make I'm using Tool Belt .  The background of this postcard was started using left over paint through a stencil way back.  I thought it was pretty neat so I didn't want to lose this.  I decided to add just some watered down yellow paint. The image itself was colored with my coloring pencils.  I added some pattern paper and some crossword puzzle paper that was left on my desk.  The sentiment was found online and I thought it was just PERFECT. Well it's a super busy day today... but I still have one more!  So please do come back for it. Hugs

Delicious Doodles Challenge - Pearls and Lace

Image
Hello!  I don't know about you but there is one type of card that I really really HATE to make but that are required in life and that is a sympathy card.  My stash was totally empty.   So when I saw the challenge this month for Delicious Doodles was to use Pearls and Lace I thought YAY that is going to be perfect for making an elegant sympathy card.  Especially since there are so many wonderful images from Delicious Doodles that would fit the bill for this.  This time around I used the image    Lily of the Valley Border The paper that I used is from Bobunny.  I added some lace trim as well as some pearl trim.  I thought it really finished this card off!  The image was colored with my copics but prior to printing it I had put a sentiment that I stretched from TLC. I still have more creations to come so I really hope that you will come again :) Hugs

Hello everyone!  It's the start to a new month and that means a new challenge and a new freebie over at  The East wind .  The challenge this month is to use something new as well as something old. For my journaling I decided to use an old background that had been created in an art class.  My other old items are the stamps that I have used.  I used a Tim Holtz sentiment (which I thought was perfect for the new part as well lol) and a border from Dyan Reaveley. I colored the awesome image with my copics.  I fussy cut her out and fussy cut out a backing to her as well. I had a lot of fun to create this and I sure hope that you will have fun with this cutie as well!!! There's lots more coming up so please do come back :) Hugs

Hello!  I'm here for my 2nd inspiration post of the month for Karleigh Sue and I had fun journaling again.  But this time just for the fun of it in a journal that I made some time ago and don't use enough! Here is the make using the wonderful image  Have you heard . Since it's an homemade journal the pages are from the book itself.  And the background came together as an accident because I had put too much brushos on the page on the other side.  When I closed the book to try to absorb some of it this is what happened :)  Love it when the background makes itself!  I use some prima metallic chalk edger in gold. The image was colored with my copics.  Hope you like it!!! I'm entering this in the following challenges: Snarky stampers  - N is for not a card Crafting in a beautiful mess  - Anything goes Art by miran challenge  - Anything goes 2 crafty girls challenges  - Anything goes Crafty-girls-creations  - Anything goes Have a fabulous Sunday and stay
