13 days of Halloween - Simply Betty - Big bad Halloween Blowout!
Happy Halloween!!!! So sad that this is the last post of the 13th days of Halloween of Simply betty. And this time the challenge is to Alter something but it has to be something other than a journal or card.
So I thought and thought about that one... I don't do many alterations... but I have seen some fabulous artist that do over at Smeared and Smudged Forum and so I have to give thanks to them for the inspiration.
My make was to transform a regular wood little box into something more! And here's the picture of the before. I had NEVER done anything of the kind... so it took me FOREVER!!! lol There's lots of steps to this...
My inspiration came also from the digi that I wanted to use for this Amarantha Red Ribbon Digi
So I removed all the hardware of the box and then used my Liquitex modeling paste all over the exterior of the box. Inside I painted it with my Deco Art Royal Ruby.
Once the exterior was dry I used Deco Art Moss Pearl paint and then the Deco Art Metallic lustre in black shimmer and iced Expresso. I added some metal pieces to the side with some elmer glue. I put it all back together. I added some paper from DCWV - The immortal love series. I added the digi that I had colored with my copics and covered the top with an acetate to protect it.
Here's the finished product!
I have to say that I was pretty impressed with how I managed to make it turn out!!! I really love the added metal corners I think it really finished it off well.
Here's the front. Just love the texture that the gesso gave!!! It won't be my last piece even if it was long to make.
And here's the top with the great digi. I think this digi was just perfect for this box!
and here's the inside look!
Pretty awesome transformation right?!? I have to say that this has to be one of my favorite makes!
