Little recycled snow
Have I intrigued you with the title?!? Well I hope so ;o) There's a challenge going on at Digistamps 4 joy and the challenge is about recycling and snowflakes... So I thought and thought and thought some more on what I could recycle that would look good on a card and I finally got an idea! I've seen people recycle soda aluminium cans into flowers. That would work for a snowflake no?!? But then... I don't have soda can... but I had some beer in can from the camping trip!!! So that was just as good. Well actually it was better 'cause the beer was awesome lol
So here's the look at the can before I made it into some snowflakes. I had to find a way to open it up... but it wasn't that bad.
I used a digi from Digistamps 4 joy that you can find here it's called Mr. Snowman and it was part of my win last time.
The paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle. I used my label 14 and my create a flake 4 from Spellbinder. I also added some bling from my stash.
Here's a closer look at the digi colored with my copics and some stickles. I also used peacock distress ink to the edge. The sentiment is from Create with TLC.
I hope you have liked my recycling!!! I was pretty happy with my 1st attempt. I'm going to have to try that out again. Mind you you need to find cans that are not too sticky... so not sure on the soda can...maybe with some sparkling perrier water!
Oh and I'm linking up at Show-it-off-sunday over at Create with TLC don't forget to show your creations every week! Great prizes possible.

And here's the look of the card with the snowflakes ;o) It was a bit difficult to remove the more intricate die cuts... so next time I would probably stick to less detail pieces.

ReplyDeleteBack ago I used punches on soda cans and worked well, but I realized it's better to use simple shapes.

ReplyDeleteAwesome snowflakes, Vicky! I never thought of that! I don't know if my Cuttlebug would cut through a can - I'm sort of scared to try... What type of cutting machine did you use? I know you have a couple. I will pop back over later to see your answer - thank you!
ReplyDeleteI used my big shot but had to do 2 pass to really cut through and also had to use a shimmer to had some more pressure. The metal is really really thin so not a problem there... it's just that it's a bit stronger than aluminium foil. Your Cuttlebug would work I'm sure.
DeleteThank you, Vicky! I just may give it a whirl - I love the result!
DeleteThis is a wonderful creation with great details and perfect for our ‘RECYCLING+ADD A SNOWFLAKE’ challenge. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Good luck.

Well done on this card! Now I need to ask as this was my first thought - did you drink all the beer first? Not too sure I would have been able to get all the Cuttlebug plates in the right order if I'd done that - LOL! Brilliant idea of recycling.
